Domain names

A domain name is the human readable format that allows you type talkingcouch.uk into your web browser and have this website display.

I find the best domain name for your business. I will then configure the DNS server so that your domain name is pointed to your website.

Domains names have a yearly cost associated with them that can range from £20 to £100 per year. This payment goes to the registrar and ICANN who manage the domain name system on the internet.

Web design

I will create user interface for your website which will structure your information so that it is easy to find and digest. It will work on multiple device screens such as desktop, laptop and mobile; follow accessability guidelines and be pleasing to look at. You will be able to take the final design and make changes yourself through the content management system or pass it to another designer to make changes for you. I am of course happy to make such changes on your behalf, the choice will remain with you.

Hosting

There are two options for hosting your website:

  1. For most people the content managed system will be far superior. It will allow you to change text and even fully redesign your website using a drag and drop interface delivered through your web browser. You can add images, bullet points, shapes and format your text;

  2. The second option is full custody hosting. This will give you the ultimate control over both your website and your server environment. This is not recommended for most businesses unless you are creating a complex web project from scratch. I use Amazon Web Services for projects that need this extra level of control.

Email integration

Customised email addresses for your domain such as:

All your emails are managed securely via the hosting service. Each domain email you create will be forwarded to your personal email address so that you won’t have to manage multiple accounts.
